what do ppl like phil laak or ivey…or brunson etc. have which makes them unbeatable…the best. i started new, I feel like i might have quite a lot of room to improve. Phil laak said he was at this poker club and he started playing and once he got it he broker the record for winning the most in a day or something. So what do they have?

1its interesting because I think Doyle Brunson and Phil Laak have very different styles of play. Doyle Brunson has a very aggressive style while Phil Laak is typically tight solid.
I think what all great poker players have in common is heart.

2They have the following:
1. Uncanny ability to read other people’s hands by reading their body language.
2. Their expressions are always the same whether they have good hands or not.
3. They know how to get their opponents to think they have bad hands
4. They can bait opponents into betting big
5. They bluff really well
6. They know the odds that each hand gives them
7. They also have luck on their side sometimes
8. you can be a great player without getting lucky hands. It just depends on how you play the game. It’s all about psychological warfare. good luck

4Read the books, watch DVDs, talk to other people about strategy, and absorb as much as you can. Then take all of that information and play as much as you can until you develop a style of your own that works for you and you get good. Odds are you’ll never get to an elite level, but you can get good enough to make money most of the time you play.
Just remember to develop your own style instead of playing just like Who ever’s book you read last or you’ll never win consistently. There are usually several ways to play a hand, and 10 of them might be “right” given the current situation.

5A. a Lucky Start
or
B. A decent starting bankroll to begin with.
These palyers were lucky enough to be good players in a time where everyone else was bad, and in doing so were able to fleece alot of money from people.
Nowerdays everyone has at least half a brain about poker and know what they know. It is much harder to become a Pro when you have so many people to compete with..

7Many people think poker is about having a stone cold poker face, or pulling big bluffs, but it’s really not. Playing winning poker is all about pushing edges, recognizing when you have an equity edge, and maximizing it.
So what does this mean and how does one go about it? An equity edge is a bet that made over and over again, will on average yield a profit. For example, you’re playing $5/$10 No Limit with a stack of $1,000 and get AA. You shove all in and are called by an opponnent who also has $1000 and is holding KK.
On any given hand you may win $1,015 (Opponnents $1,000 plus blinds) or lose $1,000. AA will win about 80% of the time and lose 20% to KK, so the total equity equation is as follows:
($1,015) * (0.8) + (-$1,000) * (0.20) =
$812 + -$200 = $612
On average this play will win $612, or in a sense you win $612 “every” time you make this play. When a professional believes he has a positive expectation, he will strive to squeeze every penny out of it.
Professionals are also very good at recalling previous events, what an opponent’s betting pattern was with a strong hand, what it was with a weak one, etc. Professionals pay attention to things that many others do not, and they use this extra information to make logical deductions about how likely they are to win any given situation.
Maximizing edges and exercising recall skills seperates the pros from the rest.
