I think it’s great, and it’s very sad that America (specifically the Bush administration) is taking the backwards outlook of trying to ban it rather than regulate and tax it.
If America is a free country then citizens should be allowed to play poker online, and American companies should be free to offer poker games to the people. Poker is an American tradition. How pathetic that we invent a wonderful game, export it around the world, and the government tries to stop us playing it, while all the time telling us that ‘they’ hate us for our freedom.
It has risen in popularity over the past few years, due to the skill element required, compared to most other gambling games.
However I do think, it is now starting to decline, as for alot of people it was just a fad.
The reason its got so popular is because its not just luck its about bluffing, reading your opponents, knowing cards to play. Roulette and games like it are simple you choose a number and hope for the best while poke there’s element of skill as well as luck.
There are thousands of poker players out there and many do not have easy access to a casino. Online poker is a viable alternative for them.
The US Governments recent attempt to restrict online gaming is ridiculous. They are tying to tell me that I can’t play a skilled game like poker but it’s ok to spend my money online on horse racing or lotteries. It’s crazy!
Don’t even get me started about the violations with the World Trade Organization. The US is wrong, everyone knows it.
Bottom line is, that the boom is probably over, but many people are now avid players thanks to online poker. It is definitley here to stay.
You have to first realise the cards are chosen at rad om by computer, different to Casino where dealer deals, with up to three packs of cards say…Seen four aces come up on line in one hand followed by another two,ok could have happened if dealt by dealer but any card counting or assessing chance of card coming up,is not possible..Also think games like Texas Hold em High ,designed for maximum spending in quick a time as possible…
Im 14 and obviously cant play online poker, i think it work even better if younger children could play for free without subscribing, it would add a lot more popularity to the game.
It’s great of course, even with the “new law” poker is and still really popular, and online poker is one of the reason for it. I play online between 20 to 70 hrs a week, and I enjoy having the choice, and decide if today I want to play at the casino or online. Online poker is here for good, and that’s a good feeling.
People should be allowed to play poker online for money if they want to. It has been a fantastic means of growing the game and getting more people interested in playing poker, either recreationally or professionally. Online poker is not rigged and never will be. Those who believe that just suck at poker and should find some other hobby to occupy themselves with.
