I’ve noticed many people have little hard-chips and that they use them to hold down their cards in poker games. I want to get one, but do not know where to find them, or just what they are called. I’ve been looking up “poker buttons”, but that’s gotten me nowhere. Help?

2They are called card protectors or card guards.
They are used to indicate to a dealer that your cards are still in play and have not been mucked or folded. They are especially good to use if you are in seats 1 or 10, right next to the dealer. Without the use of a card protector (or simply placing a chip on top of the hole cards), a dealer might mistakenly think that you had folded your cards and muck them. At that point you will be out of the hand, which sucks if you have a good hand.
It’s therefore good practice to always ‘cap your cards’ to protect the hand.
Some people also choose card guards with an item that has some personal or ‘lucky’ significance.
You can find a ton of these things on eBay.
