I’m thinking of using the e-check method to transfer money from my Bank of America checkings account to start up on Poker Star. Is this legal in the US? Also will Bank of America let me go through on this transaction?
As an online poker player located in the United States you are NOT violating the UIEGA or any other federal law, but you might be violating State or Tirbal law depending on the laws in the State or Native American Reservation where you are located. It is your responsibility to determine the legality of playing online poker under the law where you are located.
For more info. on this and to check the legality of playing online poker under your jurisdiction please go to http://www.onlinepokerads.net and see the U.S. player funding section.
Might have trouble with an e-check directly transferring to a poker site, due to the banking law passed a few years back. May have to do a 2-step, using the e-check to purchase a reloadable card that the poker site takes.
The gambling itself is fine as far as the Feds are concerned. Depending on where you live in the US, it might be illegal based on State of local laws, however there are generally considered toothless and unenforceable, so I wouldn’t lose much sleep over it.
in the usa it is classified as illegal… the goverment cant do anything except they can stop u from getting your funds back when you withdraw they hold them..
i use pokerstars.. and i got an address in england where i send the moeny to..
i play from the usa however theyve stopped allowing wells fargo credit cards now so i got to use instant cheques
Its legal, I work in the gambling business and I know that its perfectly legal to play online gambling.
Lots of people think its illegal because they hear rumours and things like that but there are people that play online.
