You’re not going to find a good statistic on that, especially since online poker is gone. If those stats were to exist, they’d be provided by the players. Remember, there is no poker “circuit” that can be followed in any conventional sense and many players play non-tournaments to stay afloat.

It is impossible to gauge because there isn’t a set league or organization with a yearly tour – like NASCAR, MLB, NFL, etc. And there are pros who may play the WSOP – for example – but will mostly play high-stakes games that aren’t tourneys, though are actually only for the very elite.

My husband has been playing poker tournaments online and in the casinos for 25 years. Winning can depend on how many enter the tournament which gives you your odds of winning. Then factor in your luck and your skill. Locally the average poker player wins maybe one in ten if they are lucky. And some never win. They have not improved their tournament play enought to win. Tournament play is quite different that regular play. You will not go good if you play the same in either one. You need to learn how to play a successful tournament and then practice to win. Since my husband has been playing a long time, he ususally wins 50% of the time. He uses his bankroll for the next tournaments that come up.
He never pays big money to play (nothing over $500). Instead he tries to win the sattelites to get into the bigger games with the biggest money. If you are like some players who toss in $1,000 to $5,000 per tournament and you are playing with 500 people, the odds of you losing your money is certain. These big players keep at it and sooner or later they get lucky and can win one. If not they are broke real fast and deep in debt. That is why many poker players who moved to Vegas left with nothing.
Poker Tournaments are gambling. Your are putting up a certain amount of money to win the pot. Like any risk you can go broke.
You will not find this information since there are so many variables. You can find it for individual tournaments. Professional players are no better than you or I. They have the same odds going in and so it just depends on if they use their skill wisely or if they are lucky.
You are denoted a professional if you play full-time and play a lot of poker. Therefore, my husband and I are professional poker players. We no longer work and we only play poker full-time and a lot.

$175,000 to $250,000 then win a big tourney,

What is an average poker pro?
It’s a really difficult question to answer, and I doubt there is really no meaningful answer you can find.
Some poker pros may travel the world playing WPT and WSOP circuit events. Others may elect to play only in events at a specific location such as London, Vegas, LA or AC. Some players may enter smaller tournaments, some larger tournaments, some may confine themselves to lower stakes tournaments.
With so many variables and different kinds of pro and tournament out there, it is hard to know the answer.
