They dont charge for transactions, only take rake, no more.

Just like when you go to a casino to play poker, you pay tourney fees and rake. Rake is a small percentage of each pot that the house takes to make their money. Tourney fees are usually the buy in plus 10%, that number can be higher in a real poker room.
Usually poker sites have free deposits (they pay for the transaction) and a set number of free payouts per month. You might incur a charge if you go over, say 4 withdrawals per month.

At most limits the rake is 5% up to $3 per pot for cash games.
Tourneys the entry fee is roughly 10% of the buy-in.
These numbers maybe be a little higher for the very smallest limits/tourney buy-ins.
And if you havent signed up with an account yet…make sure you sign up for full tilt with a rakeback affiliate. You can get up to 27% of the rake you contribute deposited back into your account. If you have already signed up though, then it’s too late. I’m with rakerebate.net myself.

Full Tilt Poker (FTP) uses what most poker sites and clubs use. It is called a Rake. It is an amount that is taken from the winning pot EVERYTIME there is a winner. Although there might be a fee to transfer the money, this usually goes to the bank. That is how they make their money.
The rake can be an percentage of each pot or a set amount that is paid every hour. When I play 1/2 (1 dollar small blind, 2 dollar big blind), I believe the house charges 6 dollars every hour.
But it is as you said earlier, a cut of each pot. I am not positive of the percentage though.

They dont charge when you transfer funds from a bank, but yes they charge a small cut from each pot, but you hardly notice. I think Full Tilt is the best online poker site going around, especially for new players because of their poker school and and their micro low limits (1cent and 2 cent blinds).
